Business Web Software work with Communities and Local Government to launch Data Interchange Hub
Business Web Software and Informed Solutions work with Communities and Local Government to develop the Data Interchange Hub, a project to provide a secure centralised data storage and a mechanism for data interchange to help with collating and monitoring of the national indicators.
The CLG launched the Data Interchange Hub during April 2008. The Hub is a central government project to provide secure, centralised data storage and a mechanism for data interchange to help with collating and monitoring of the national indicators incorporating local area agreements (LAAs).
The Hub will reduce the burden for local authorities in collating data from many different sources and also ensure that they have all the information they need from one source to gauge their performance against the national indicator set.
Business Web Software developed the online data capture element of the solution using AchieveForms. AchieveForms is embedded directly within the .NET website and uses two forms to capture target values and results. The forms use dynamic logic to automatically configure the different attributes required for each indicator, for example, some indicators are measured in percentage, while others require an absolute value.
Communities and Local Government have used AchieveForms for other central projects such as last year’s Incident Reporting Solution for Fire & Rescue services. By using AchieveForms, the design of the data entry component remained flexible through the development process.
The project was delivered successfully against very tight deadlines and since going live in April, has already dealt with thousands of transactions.
