Institution of Mechanical Engineers adopt AchieveForms and Process Designer
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) has chosen AchieveForms and Process Designer to streamline their application submission and approval process.
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers is the leading body for professional mechanical engineers.
With a world-wide membership now in excess of 75,000 engineers, the IMechE is the United Kingdom's qualifying body for Chartered and Incorporated mechanical engineers.
The Institution has a number of different membership application tiers, each with its own form and associated internal processes. All applications have to go through an internal approval process before membership can be granted.
The current application process is executed entirely on paper; applicants download a PDF form, complete it by hand and sent the form in through the post. The paper form is physically passed through an approval process and information from the form is manually keyed into a database.
IMechE is looking to make this process quicker and easier for applicants and more efficient internally. They have chosen AchieveForms and Process Designer to drive the application process from submission to approval.
IMechE chose AchieveForms because of its ease of use and conditional behaviour functionality which will be particularly important when translating their large, multi-section forms from paper to online versions. The business logic and routing capabilities of Process Designer will play an important part in getting the internal processes online.
AchieveForms will be embedded within the IMechE SharePoint intranet environment through an AchieveForms web-part.
Longer term, IMechE is looking to link AchieveForms to a membership database so that applicant details can be automatically updated and database maintenance can be driven by an AchieveForms interface.
"Putting our application process online is a logical step for IMechE. We want to reduce the amount of paper used in the office and enable easier tracking of applications."
